Every single time I have ever said I am not a huge fan of cookies was a lie, one that I’ve recently discovered upon making these out-of-this-world bars. This is Christmas cookie recipe #2 baked last week during my cookie-fest with my mom and sisters.
But seriously. If you love toffee and chocolate, you will love these and won’t be able to stop at just one. It’s like pecan pie meets caramel chews meets chocolate sauce. And they make a whole pan for the whole family!
TOFFEE PECAN CHOCOLATE BARS
1 3/4 c flour
3/4 c brown sugar
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 c) salted butter
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c chocolate toffee bits
2 oz milk chocolate, chopped
3/4 c pecans
Mix flour and sugar together in a bowl. Cut in butter and spread mixture on the bottom of a greased 9×13 glass pan. Press down firmly and bake on 350F for 12 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix milk egg, vanilla, toffee, chocolate and pecans together in a large bowl. Once crust has finished baking, remove from oven and top with toffee mixture. Spread out evenly and bake in oven for another 25 minutes. Cool and cut into small squares. *recipe slightly adapted from a family friend recipe
One of my favorite things to do before a trip is to pick out my wardrobe, pairing current pieces with of course, new pieces. During my hunt for the best pieces for my Italy & Adriatic cruise, I came across an amazing brand called Moon River. Moon River has a beautiful selection of pieces with…
It’s time to bring out your white denim jacket my friends. Spring is here, trees are blooming and the sun is shining. This is such a wonderful time of the year – I feel like a butterfly emerging from her cocoon or a bear out of his hibernation. It’s finally that time when we can start shedding…
Today’s recipe is a special one – it’s a family recipe for fattoush, the Lebanese salad that’s a mixture of veggies and fried pita chips. My mom used to make it growing up and I never truly appreciate it until I was much older. We love this salad – if you’ve never fried (or toasted…
I’ve been on a crepe kick lately. After making these delicious banana crepes twice in a week, I decided to change it up a bit and make savory crepes. I’ve tasted savory crepes only a handful of times. My favorite savory crepe experience was in Asheville NC. I don’t even remember what type of crepe I tried…
Ever since the first Fall 2014 images of beautiful models with their amazing hairstyles hit the internet, I have been working on recreating specific braided hairstyles. Since I have curly hair, my options of hairstyles tend to be limited and understandably, braids work best on my hair. This is a great braided hairstyle for second…
I’ll be honest; I’ve never tried a meal service before this week and now I totally understand the draw. Dinner Thyme, a convenient meal service established in NYC in 2010, has a refreshing weekly menu of 9 options of easy-to-prepare meals in single serving sizes that are delivered right to your door. Each meal’s ingredients come in individually…
