Buttermilk Pear Pie with a Crumble Topping

I’ve been on a baking spree lately which is great for the blog but terrible for our diets. This is the third pear dessert I have made within the last two weeks and I still have more pears to use. I think I may be freezing the remainder for fear of developing an aversion to pears. Ever have that happen? You eat way too much of something and then suddenly, you cringe at the idea of eating it again? Yes, tried that once with cake. Epic fail.
This is a buttermilk pear pie with a very slight custard base that tastes amazing cold and warm (think warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream). You can sub in apples if you prefer or add nuts to the crumble topping. And if you’re wondering what the other two pear recipes were, you can follow the links for more goodness…
