5 Reviews for Curly Hair Product

A few months ago, a reader asked me what products I use in my curly hair and I realized what a good question that was. I didn’t always have curly hair – when I was little my hair was slick straight. During my middle and high school years and on, though, I battled with crazy curls, even curlier than now. I decided to divide this post into two sections – one a review of products I tried out and the second a post showing my hair regime (coming soon). Contrary to what most people think, my hair is fine, way too fine. When it’s wet, it feels like there’s barely anything there but dry, it poofs and frizzes. Even though I have never had ideal hair (I always wished for straight hair that was naturally highlighted), over the years I have learned to be thankful for what I have and to figure out ways to work with it. I chose 5 Target/Walmart products to review, all without parabens. As you can see in the following pictures, many of the products worked very similarly (and they all smelled so GOOD). But ultimately, my decision was based on which product allowed the curls to set in the longest. Also, I should note that my science side tried to keep all variables the same 😉
Facts about my hair:
  • very curly on top but bottom layer of hair has basically no curl
  • frizzy
  • can only last 2-3 days without a shampoo (curls must be reactivated daily)
