5 Cherry Desserts You Need To Make This Summer
If you’re like me, you can eat cherries by the handful, stopping only for a split second to spit the pits out. I probably look like an addict but I don’t care. I always take advantage of cherry season because that’s the only time I ever find crisp and crunchy cherries…I kind of despise the soft and juicy variety. But soft and sour cherries definitely have their place in this foodie world and there are few things better than a sweet treat with cherries as the focal point. So I compiled a list of 5 cherry desserts you need to make this summer because sometimes cherries are highly underrated and they just shouldn’t be!
1. Authentic Black Forest Cake via Also the Crumbs Please
This cake is 100% worth sacrificing calories for. It’s a chocolate spongecake stuffed with a delicious homemade cream and topped with sour cherries. And what’s even better this recipe is simple and easy to follow.
2. Cheesy Cherry Blintzes via FashionEdible
These cherry blintzes were super easy to make and so delicious. They’re super light on the dessert scale and they’re a great recipe for a quick fix to a sweet craving. For an even lighter and healthier dessert, sub the cream cheese for even more cottage cheese.
3. Cherry Cobbler with White Chocolate via Living Vegan
I am not vegan but I have to admit, this dessert looks heavenly. It’s full of cherries and a delicious white chocolate almond biscuit topping. I know. SO GOOD. And it’s all topped with a delicious scoop of vegan ice cream and a sprig of mint.
4. Flourless Chocolate Cherry Cake via Kitchen Sanctuary
For all gluten-free folks, this cake looks like a dream come true. For the rest of us, well, it looks like heaven. A glorious blend of chocolate, almond flour, and cherries this cake will be the one you need to make for your next BBQ. Your gluten intolerant friends and family will thank you.
5. Mini Chocolate Cherry Pavlovas via What Charlotte Baked
These chocolatey meringues are to die for. They are a light dessert topped with cherry compote, definitely a dessert to make when you want to impress.
And since I know you’ll be making one of these 5 cherry desserts ASAP, here are some cherry pitters for you 😉
I made a summer resolution to make at least one dessert with every major summer fruit: strawberries (done), cherries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and peaches. I was planning to do just a classic cherry pie for the cherries, but the flourless cake is making me think I need to switch things up a bit. The cherries haven’t hit the farmers’ markets yet, so I have some time to decide.
Yes, that flourless cake looks divine! Let me know how it turns out if you make it!
